Vernon is vice chairperson of the JADO Committee.
During early 2011 Vernon researched the need locally for a body to represent Directors in the Island. Identifying key elements of value: education, communication and representation. Vernon set about gaining feedback to the idea of a new association that provided for the very specific needs of Jersey based directors irrespective of their specific disciplines. In March 2011 a set-up committee was raised and JADO was established in May of 2011 holding its inaugural meeting on 17th of that month.
Vernon founded MasonBreese following twelve years in the financial services and regulatory environment with Standard Bank, the Jersey Financial Services Commission and Maples and Calder. MasonBreese specialises in providing experienced Change professionals, from Business Analysts to Project and Programme Managers and gives clients access to highly trained, trustworthy individuals who are able to assess, interpret, plan and deliver change effectively and efficiently.
Educated in England at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School, Vernon commenced his career in finance with Standard Chartered Bank Jersey in 1987, prior to which he served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces with the Royal Corps of Signals. Since leaving the Commission Vernon has been involved in the development of fund administration, custody and banking and other fiduciary services activities in Jersey and brings with him a wealth of relevant regulatory knowledge and experience having held over a period of time some 63 fund company directorships.
Whilst at the Commission as Senior Manager of the Securities Division, Vernon managed the establishment of the Jersey expert fund regime and saw the first 70 Jersey expert funds through the authorisation process. He is also the former Chairman of Jersey Fund Association’s legal and tax Committee.
Vernon is a fluent German speaker and is currently studying Russian.
